My Thoughts

Most times when we walk into big malls, boutiques, supermarkets, we never question their prices. We pay exactly what we see on the price tags and even hand out tips to the staff or help box.
But the moment we are out of these shops and want to buy banana, our bargaining game gets off to the roof. A Poor widow with 7 hungry children at home tells you banana is 10shs. She even takes out her time to explain how difficult it was for her to even buy it, how the economy is so tough. But we insist that if it's not 5/= shs, we are not paying.
Some of us even step back into our cars and make to drive away. But because 'half bread is better chin-chin', this woman is forced to call you back and sell to you at little or no gain. In her heart, she cries, she's worried about how she'll survive with her children. She silently reassures herself that 'It's well. God will definitely provide.'' While you happily 'chop' the luscious banana.
Take some seconds out and think about these, guys... Please don't bargain hard with small vendors like this. They do business not to buy designer bags, Gucci shoes but to LIVE and EAT!

Tuesday

Winter finally is here

I will gaze at the stars,
And maybe even Earth,
Its all over so cold,
On a wonderful clear winter night.

Feeling the breeze,
Watching the trees,
They're swaying with grace,
In this peaceful little place.

Time moves on, now and then,
It's getting colder than it was before,
People are sick and sneezing,
Because this weather is so freezing.

One of the prettiest times of year,
Winter season is finally here,
32 is the magic number,
For a white blanket as you slumber.

Yummy things like hot chocolate and s'mores,
Cookies, treats, and sweets galore,
A fascinating season winter is,
With its beauty, peace, and bliss

Christmas is almost here,
A holiday filled with such cheer,
Giving and getting so many things,
Being with family, enjoying everything it brings.

You had already made your list,
You wake up and hope to find your wish,
Unwrap the box and look inside,
You saw your wish and nearly cried.

Oh man, how wonderful winter can be,
From the holidays to the scenery,
My favorite thing, however, I'm having trouble deciding,
Everything is great, and it's only just arriving.

Friday

I am a Kenyan

I am a Kenyan
Not because I was born there
But because my heart beats with Kenya’s

I am a Kenyan
Not because my skin is black
But because my mind is engaged by Kenya.

I am a Kenyan
Not because I live on its soil
But because my soul is at home in Kenya.

Intelligence of a Woman

Women nowadays are becoming more and more noticed for their exceptional success in the tendentiously male dominated corporate world of global business. A number of successful women have finally been able to walk up the corporate ladder, arriving to high ranking positions in some of the most renowned corporations of the world.
Women have shown the world how they are great business leaders, and how their approach to business  is strikingly different from men, due to their unique skills and leadership approach.
The following are some of quotes you need to read as a lady:
  1. Be First And Be Lonely.
  2. There is nothing like a concrete life plan to weigh you down. Because if you always have one eye on some future goal, you stop paying attention the the job at hand, miss opportunities that might arise, and stay fixedly on one path, even when a better, newer course might have opened up.
  3. I always did something I was a little not ready to do. I think that’s how you grow. When there’s that moment of ‘Wow, I’m not really sure I can do this,’ and you push through those moments, that’s when you have a breakthrough.
  4. With kids, they don’t do what you want them to do when you want them to do it. Organizations don’t necessarily, either. You've got to listen. You've got to learn how to influence.
  5. Our emerging workforce is not interested in command-and-control leadership. They don’t want to do things because I said so; they want to do things because they want to do them.
  6. Just as my mother said, ‘You can do anything if you put your mind to it, you work hard and you take that responsibility,’ and I think that that would be my message.
  7. You can and should set your own limits and clearly articulate them. This takes courage, but it is also liberating and empowering, and often earns you new respect.
  8. The bigger we get the easier it is.
  9. Leadership is about making others better as a result of your presence and making sure that impact lasts in your absence.
  10. Ninety percent of this stuff is just not that serious, we get crazy about it.

I Got You

The Gift I Got

When we first talked to each other
I knew we would always be friends.
Our friendship has kept on growing
And I'll be here for you to the end.

You listen when I have a problem
And help dry the tears from my face.
You take away my sorrow
And put happiness in its place.

We can't forget the fun we've had
Laughing 'til our faces turn blue.
Talking of things only we find funny
People think we're insane-If they only knew!

I guess this is my way of saying thanks
For catching me when I fall.
Thanks once again for being such a good friend
And being here with me through it all.

My Soul is Sad

written by Abinti Carol
A Poem about our inner feeling

My Soul is sad,
My heart is breaking tonight,
Will you not watch and comfort me until light?
I am in pain,
Will no one witness my fear?
A nightmare,
A nightmare in the middle of the night,
As the rotten drums beat,
Beckoning the surgeon,
Aha! Don't do this to me,
Its hurting, its Painful.

My Thought

written by Abinti Carol
My History

Spending time with family is also a priority of mine and one that I do not wish to neglect. I was able to spend the holidays from  December  23rd to December 27th in kamba land with family.  It reminded me how blessed I am to have such a supportive and loving family.  In that time, I decided to look for work relatively near my family in Kamba Land rather than Nairobi town but all in vain. Electricity is there but there are less people who knows how to use it properly rather than light in the house. Is there a way i can improve the knowledge and make my homeland the most improved land in Eastern Province?

Am working very hard with some of my friends from the same area to make a lot of improvement back home.If you also touched you can join us to work as a group and together we can go far.The world hates change, yet it is the only thing that has brought progress.

God provided me with an exciting and challenging job  as a programmer of which i had to start being deeper into coding at Rangi Moja Limited.  Its been a great time to interact with programmers and learning lots about internet infrastructure and coding(programming).I love my working environment and everyone in our company,I enjoy my work every day i wake up. Yet, I honestly never thought I would be this good in programming and web design back in high school. My career was to be an Artist or an Actress.I used to love drama in high school, music festivals too.

In this way i came to realize that its not only what we dream to be, there are so many hidden careers in our way.Success only depends on what we have surrounding, how we work towards success, how we think, whom we interact with, how we plan things and how we manage time.

I learn to be independent and do things which are admirable by everybody.Be a role model of yourself and be the perfect ever.

A few thoughts on my mind....
  • I am excited to reunite with dear friends
  • How can I contribute to poverty alleviation here in Kenya?
  • I need to join a soccer club on my leisure and enjoy the time with my friends.
  • When and where will I travel to at least to change climate, have been here in Kenya since 1992 till to date?
  • I love adventure very much in my life.

Finally, I hope to maintain an attitude that appreciates and accepts any situation as enrichment of my adventure/life.
Thanks in advice

Regards

Abinti.
